About the Author

Hi, my name is Dan Klumper and welcome to Ancient Quest. Thanks for visiting. I thought I would share a little about myself. I am originally from Worthington, MN. I graduated from high school in 2001. I attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. I graduated from Augustana in May of 2006 with degrees in History and Secondary Education. I also obtained a middle school endorsement in Social Studies. I played football at Augustana, as a wide receiver.  My wife Abby and I have three daughters, Olivia-14, Isabel-11, and Hazel-3. My wife teaches 5th grade in Brandon, SD. Currently, I teach in the college of education at Dakota State University in Madison, SD. My family and I moved to Brandon in 2006 and enjoy being a part of the community.
I wrote Ancient Quest during the school year of 2010-2011. The idea of this book stems from the subject area I teach. Since the ancient world contains so many fascinating topics, I wanted to do something for my students that would bring it alive for them more than a textbook could. I have always had the itch to write, so I decided to combine the two. I first called these stories the "I Series" because each chapter was told in the first person point of view. I developed a character that the students could relate to and follow along on all of his adventures throughout the ancient world. As we follow along with Johnny, we can learn so much about the ancient world in a way that will "stick" in our minds for a long time. Ancient Quest is my second book. My first book, "Johnny Rawten," follows Johnny during his 6th grade year as he discovers his ability to time travel.
